After arriving in Naples, I decided to take the Cumana train line to Fusaro to see the archaeological site of Cuma. This was originally a greek settlement and was a great start to explore the ruins in the area. Of course, I had a full tour of Pompeii, which featured a lot of the red stone used in the Roman city. However, the ash from the Vesuvius eruption consumed everything. The ruins at Herculaneum, however, were much better preserved as a result of being buried in some 30 meters of mud. The excavations were stunning at both sites. You could really get a feeling of the Roman town at Pompeii: how the streets were constructed, the different districts of the town, the bustling nature of the forum. In Herculaneum, there were villas with frescoes and shops on the street. Back in Napoli, there was some great nightlife. I really loved walking from piazza to piazza, meeting some wonderful artistic people, and enjoying the old city. Thanks for watching my vlog! Hope you continue to follow my journeys.
