School’s out for the summer! I got a car and made for the hills. Well, the Alps in this case. The drive to Geneva from I’m so glad to be back in Switzerland. Today I explored Montreux and Lausanne. Just a short drive from Geneva, these two towns on Lake Geneva are surrounded by rolling hills and the Alps on either side. In Montreux, I marveled at the Chillon Castle fortifications, medieval décor, and arms and armor. I tried to pick up and convey some of the history from this region. Montreux is a relaxing little resort town. I strolled along the promenade, a little early for the annual Jazz Festival. In Lausanne, there are a few nice sites to see. Check out the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Place de la Palud, the Sauvabelin Tower, escaliers du marché, and Château d’Ouchy by the promenade looking out over Le Lac Léman. I’m just a little nostalgic.
